New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions: Are You Still on Track?

January is practically over—can you believe it? It feels like we were just ringing in the new year, making promises about all the goals we planned to accomplish in 2025. Time has a funny way of slipping by, doesn’t it? But here we are, already almost at the end of January. I can already guess what you’re thinking … So why am I bringing up New Year’s resolutions now? Because, let’s be honest, this is usually the time when those big plans start to fade, and reality starts to set in.

I’m sure many of you made your New Year’s resolutions back in December, especially if you’re into the whole “new year, new plan of action” mindset. Maybe you vowed to shed those extra pounds, or finally tackle that cluttered room—you know, the one that turns into a catch-all when company comes over—or perhaps you decided not to make any resolutions at all, choosing instead to approach the year on your own terms. Whatever you decided, it’s perfectly fine because we all navigate this time of the year in our own way.

But now that  January is coming to an end, I can’t help but wonder: how many of you have already strayed from your “new start” plan? Or maybe, like in years past, you made the same resolution and are still trying to convince yourself (and everyone else) that this will finally be the year you stick to it. And if that’s you—no judgment here!

And that’s the beauty of this time of year—it offers a chance to reset and rethink what’s ahead. January feels like a clean slate—a time to leave the baggage of the previous year behind and decide what the future will hold. The possibilities seem endless, don’t they? All we have to do is figure out what we truly want for ourselves and take that first leap of faith. Just like the song says, 'Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking through the door.' (Yes, that’s a Christmas movie reference. I’m still in my post-holiday movie phase, don’t judge!)

The Struggles of Sticking to Resolutions

I get it. I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I’ve been the person who crafted an elaborate plan in December, only to scale it down to something more “realistic” (or completely forget about it) by February. And I’ve also been the skeptic, tossing the whole concept of resolutions out the window and questioning others about their plans, as if I hadn’t been in their shoes just a few years before.

The truth is, many of us are waiting for the perfect conditions to start pursuing what we really want. I’ve been there, saying things like:

“I’d go back to school if I didn’t have to take out another loan.”

“If I just had a little more money, I could finally launch that business idea.”

“If everyone else around me was doing okay, I could focus on myself more.”

Sound familiar?

My New Year, My Way

This year, I’m not entirely sure what to expect, but I’m excited to take on new adventures. I’m launching this blog, working on my Chase Purpose online store, and exploring ways to grow my brand. It feels like a fresh chapter, but also a little overwhelming at times. Last year, I graduated (a major milestone!), and while I’m proud of that achievement, I’m now navigating the big question: ‘What’s next?’

Starting something new always comes with a mix of excitement and uncertainty, but I’m choosing to embrace the journey and see where it leads. Whether it’s building my store, connecting with readers through my blog, or dreaming up new ideas, I’m ready to explore all the possibilities ahead.

On a more personal note, I’ve been single for two years now. Starting a new relationship hasn’t even crossed my mind—mostly because I wouldn’t know where to begin. Dating apps? Are they even worth it? Honestly, I’m not sure. But you know what? I’m okay with where I am, for now.

Dating Myself

In fact, I’ve decided to dedicate this year to dating myself. Rediscovering who I am. Getting to know the new me—the single mom, the recent graduate, the woman ready to take on life’s next chapter.

This resolution feels refreshing and different. Instead of focusing on what I need to change about myself, I’m choosing to celebrate who I am now and all that I’ve accomplished.

So, here’s to a new kind of resolution: one that’s about embracing yourself, wherever you are in life. Whatever your goals may be, don’t forget to celebrate the small wins along the way. It’s all part of the journey! Here’s to making 2025 our best year yet.

What about you? Are you sticking to your resolutions, or are you charting your own course this year?
