A Moment of Awareness
A thought that was on my mind today….
I’ve never been someone who followed politics too closely. I paid attention during election time, did my part by voting, and moved on, believing that once the decision was made, that was that. But this year feels different.
Lately, I find myself more engaged—reading more articles and having conversations I might have previously avoided. Politics has always been a sensitive topic, one where a single word can send you down a rabbit hole you never intended to enter. But something about this time feels personal. Maybe it’s because the decisions being made aren’t just policies on paper; they’re shaping the future in ways that impact us all—our families, our communities, and the way we experience this country.
The phrase that kept running through my mind this morning was “Make America Great.” And yet, I’ve started to question—what does greatness really mean? Who gets to define it? The more I pay attention, the more I realize that the version of greatness being pushed forward doesn’t seem to include everyone. It feels less like progress and more like a step back—like being placed inside a box that so many have fought to break free from.
This shift in awareness has been unsettling but also necessary. I can’t afford to tune out or assume that everything will work itself out. Staying informed, having difficult conversations, and understanding the weight of these choices—these aren’t just responsibilities; they’re essential. Because if we don’t engage, if we don’t pay attention, we can’t expect change.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know that ignoring what’s happening isn’t an option anymore. This isn’t about taking sides—it’s about paying attention. Have you ever had a moment that made you see things differently? What made you stop and reflect?
